Eileen T. Moore

South Yarmouth – Eileen Theresa Moore, 93, of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, peacefully passed away on December 8, 2021. Eileen was born to parents Catherine and Neil MacDonald on 06 February 1928 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

She graduated from Arlington High School in 1945, and then went on to study Nursing at Mount Auburn Hospital, graduating in 1948 as a Registered Nurse. She worked as an Operating Room Nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital, and then transferred to Cape Cod Hospital after she moved to the Cape in 1950.

Eileen spent many summers growing up on Monomoy Point, so moving to the Cape was like coming home to her. She became a pilot in 1952 and would fly her Piper Cub out to Monomoy Point. She also had the honor of becoming the first woman in the MA Civil Air Patrol.

She met her husband and soulmate Robert Malcolm Moore in 1956, and in 1958 they were married in Hyannis, MA. Together they raised 2 children: Patricia Eileen Rooney and Kenneth Robert Moore.

Eileen loved life and could tackle anything. She was an extremely strong, smart, and loving woman who was an incredible role model to others. She loved flying, fishing, boating, and sports of all kinds. She loved the beautiful home that she and Robert made together. She always said that Cape Cod was the best place in all the world to live.

Eileen loved to volunteer. She was a Camp Fire Girls Group Leader, nurturing “her girls” from 2nd grade through High School. She also volunteered at St. Christopher’s Church, both in the Flower Guild and for 30 years at The Thrift Shop.

Together, Eileen and her beloved husband Robert made an extraordinary loved-filled life together. She is survived by Robert Malcolm Moore, her beloved husband of 63 years; her daughter and son-in-law Trish Moore Rooney and William J. Rooney Jr. of Clinton, WA; and her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth R. Moore and Kerry Harling of Bristol, RI. She is also survived by her niece Susan M. Biscoe and family and by her niece Carol McCracken’s family as well as her stepson Dennis P. Moore of Paxton, MA and her stepdaughter Alicia Wade of Scottsdale, AZ. Also in her loving circle are numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

A visiting hour will be held on Friday Dec 17 from 1-2 PM followed by a memorial service at 2 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations Morris-O’Connor Chapel 58 Long Pond Drive. South Yarmouth.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Eileen’s niece, Carol McCracken, donations may be made to ALS Family Charitable Foundation at https://alsfamily.org.
