NEET (UG) 2022 – Checklist for Registration

Admissions to all undergraduate dental and medical seats will be made based on the NEET (UG) exam results. Candidates clearing this exam can get their way through the desired medical institution. The first step towards this journey is filling out an error-free application form after going through the eligibility criteria. The online registration starts on 6 April and ends on 15 May. Here, let’s look at the complete process for submitting a successful application form.

How to Apply?

Any candidate who has completed 17 years (on or before 31 December 2022) and has cleared or appeared for Class 12 or equivalent exams is eligible to apply. The following process is to be followed for the NEET application:

  • First, log in to the official website of NTA and click on the online application form.
  • Fill in the basic details such as name, contact details and DOB. Ensure to give correct contact details as they will be used for further communications by the NTA.
  • Educational details with proper pass percentage have to be provided along with the Cass 10 certificate. This will be cross-checked during the time of counselling.
  • The candidate must also provide valid government-issued ID proof during the registration process. Foreign national candidates and NRIs can provide their passport numbers as IDs.
  • Then, the photograph, signature and thumb impression has to be scanned and uploaded in the required format.
  • Finally, the application fee has to be paid to ensure a successful registration. The application fee for general candidates is ₹1,600. Likewise, for SC/ST/PwD and third gender candidates, it is ₹900. For general OBC-NCL/EWS candidates, it is ₹1,500, and for foreign candidates, it is ₹8,500

In case of any fabricated information, the NTA has sole discretion to debar the candidates from the examination. Also, note that the NEET registration is a completely online process. Candidates can take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference but need not send the same to the NTA authorities.

Required Documents

The following documents are to be scanned and uploaded in PDF or JPG format as mentioned:

  • Latest postcard size photo in JPG format – 10 to 200 kb
  • Latest passport size photo in JPG format – 10 to 200 kb
  • Left and right thumb mark in JPG format – 10 to 200 kb
  • Signature of the candidate in JPG format – 4 to 30 kb
  • Category certificate in PDF format – 50 to 300 kb

The photograph should have been taken on or before 1 January 2022. Also, it should preferably indicate the name of the candidate and the date when it is taken. Likewise, the signature should be in black ink with running handwriting. All the documents should be clearly scanned and uploaded as unclear documents are liable for rejection.

Exam Structure

After successful registration, candidates can download their admit card from the official website. The date to download the admit card is yet to be announced. Till then, the candidates can solely devote their time to preparing for the NEET examination. The NEET syllabus 2022 comprises four subjects – zoology, botany, physics and chemistry. The exam pattern includes 180 MCQs for 720 marks (each question carries four marks). It is a pen and paper-based test that has to be answered within 200 minutes on an OMR sheet.

The result date will be soon announced after the scheduled examination. It will be followed by a counselling process conducted by the State Government authorities. The designated authorities will verify the documents, self-declaration, eligibility criteria, etc., during the counselling process. There are several provisions and quotas under which eligible candidates can proceed for admissions.
